Bond Coat / Tack Coat
Using hot or cold sprayed bitumen emulsion or a polymer modified bitumen emulsion, our bond and tack coats provide a thin adhesive film between any existing road and a new surface. This reduces the risk of slippage between the two layers of road surface. Due to the optimised contact between the two layers, it also allows any stresses to be uniformly distributed.
Such bond coats can be used in road surface patching where priming and waterproofing are required. They’re also essential for overlaying concrete.
We apply bond and tack coats using lorry mounted sprayers to achieve a complete and even coverage. We expertly select the rate of spread depending on the nature of the surface and the client requirements.
Our tanker sprayers range from 7.5 tonne up to 32 tonne, equipped with adjustable width spray bars up to 4.8 metres and are available with a lance. All our Tankers are calibrated and accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
Combination Tanker With Hot Pitch Application
Lorry mounted dual purpose bond coat sprayers with vertical hot pitch joint painting arms. This removes the need for extended manual applications by “a man with a can”. Rotating pitch heads enable both; free edge sealing and over banding to be carried out safely and efficiently using the machine.
We have a variety of combination tankers ranging from 12 tonne up to 26 tonne.
Surface Dressing
During the process of road surface dressing our specialist teams spray bitumen emulsion onto the road surface before then immediately covering the emulsion with aggregate chippings.
The bitumen emulsion comprehensively seals the existing road surface whilst securing the chippings to the new surface. This prevents water from penetrating the road surface and provides a safe, hardwearing, heavy load-carrying road cover.
We only use premium quality aggregate chippings that add texture to roads worn smooth from traffic, helping to prevent accidents related to skidding. Whilst surface dressing doesn’t add strength to a road surface, it will extend the safe use of a road and prevent further damage.
